Konecranes launches New Overhead Crane
The new CXT?UNO crane combines a strong range of features based on a simpler set of components and technical solutions compared to existing CXT? products.

Konecranes, a manufacturer of cranes and lifting equipment, has introduced a new overhead crane at a launch function in Pune, Maharashtra. The new crane-the CXT?UNO-has been developed to give small and medium-sized customers in emerging markets access to Konecranes proven technology, and will extend Konecranes product offering for these markets. This crane is primarily intended for companies operating in manufacturing, construction and logistics.

CXT? UNO is based on Konecranes existing CXT? hoist, and delivers many of the industry-leading strengths of the CXT?. It is Konecranes second product launched for emerging markets this year and follows the BOXHUNTER, an innovative new type of RTG for ports and terminals.

The new crane combines a strong range of features based on a simpler set of components and technical solutions compared to existing CXT? products. This simpler design, together with easy access to spare parts, means that the CXT? UNO will be easy to maintain.

Addressing the launch event, Pekka Lundmark, President and CEO, Konecranes, said, "India is one of our key market for the coming years. We are seeing an extremely demanding requirements from customers in high demanding applications such as steel, container handling, paper, etc. These requirements are growing all the time and more and more pressure is on vendors to meet the requirements. This is where we have come out with this new product, which is of high quality, high safety and cost competitive."

Ryan Flynn, Executive Vice President and Head of Business Area Equipment, Konecranes, said, "Our prime focus is on quality, safety, productivity and space saving at a competitive price. Compared to our current CXT? cranes, the price of our CXT? UNO crane is forecasted to be 20 per cent less. The price difference is due to the overall simplicity of the crane."

"CXT? UNO is important for us because it expands our product offering into a segment where we havent been present before," says Jukka Paasonen, Vice President and Head of Business Line Industrial Crane Products, Konecranes. "CXT? UNO offers customers in this category access to Konecranes quality and reliability in what we believe is a very attractive and competitive overall package."

A new product based on proven solutions

Capable of lifting loads up to 10 tonne up to 9 m off the ground, CXT? UNO features a 2-speed hoisting and travelling design with a fixed pendant controller, tagline festooning, and compact single-girder construction, and can operate over spans of up to 20 m. The design draws on input collected in the field and prioritises issues such as quality, reliability in both intensive and less-frequent usage, and ease of maintenance. Saeesh Nevrekar, Country Manager and Managing Director, WMI Konecranes India, said, "This product is aimed at the general manufacturing sector and in terms of price points. CXT? UNO is more competitively priced and simpler in nature looking at wider market segments."

CXT? UNO is first launched in India, a market with significant potential for industrial cranes and one where Konecranes has been building a growing presence over the last few years. Following the rollout in India, the plan is to introduce CXT? UNO in other countries in the near future.

With its simple, standardised design, CXT? UNO will be available with competitive delivery times.
